Get 2 Know "Superman" Grady Sizemore
by Scoop Malinowski - Sunday, April 6, 2008

    Status: Cleveland Indians outfielder.

    Ht: 6-2  Wt: 210

DOB: August 8, 1982  In: Seattle, WA

Childhood Heroes:  "I always looked up to my dad (Grady). But I guess I never had like a hero where I idolized guys."

Nicknames:  "Not really. Anything with G, like G, G-Size. Most people just call me Grady. G-something or anything you want to come up with. (Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen calls Grady 'Superman.')"

Hobbies/Interests:  "When I'm not playing ball I like to relax, I like to hang out with friends, video games, watch movies. I like going to the beach, the water."

Favorite Movies:  "Tough question. I don't know. I don't really have a favorite."

Favorite TV Show:  "Probably That 70's Show."

    Musical Tastes:  "The Doors."

    First Job:  "Baseball."

First Car:  "Chevy Blazer. (Color?) Black."

Early Baseball Memory:  "The first professional game I ever played (in Bradenton in Gulf Coast League) was 18 innings, and about 5 1/2 hours was probably my first memory: A long day [laughs]."

Favorite Meal:  "Can't go wrong with steaks, always nice."

Favorite Breakfast Cereal:  "Hmmm...you're catching me off-guard with all these. I love cereal too...probably Raisin Bran I eat the most. Probably Raisin Bran Crunch."

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor:  "Cherry Garcia."

Pre-Game Feeling:  "Just relax. Just be focused. Try to clear my head. Make sure I'm prepared to get into the game and go from there. Get ready to go out there."

Greatest Sports Moment:  "Major League debut - right now. Yeah, that's probably it. At the moment."

Most Painful Moment:  "Any time striking out to end the game is a painful moment. But I don't know, I haven't had too many. I don't look at failure or painful moments as devastating times in my career. You can always bounce back the next day."

Favorite Uniforms:  "The basic - maybe the Padres."

Favorite Ballparks:  "I like playing in San Diego a lot. I like playing in Baltimore too. Seattle. Chicago. Maybe Yankee Stadium."

Funny Baseball Memory:  "Lots of funny stuff. Nothing I can really say."

Embarrassing Baseball Memory:  "I think running off the field a couple of times when there's less than two outs. So that's really embarrassing. I had my zipper down at the plate and the catcher told me that. That was a pretty funny moment (against Detroit)."

Favorite Athletes To Watch:  "Bo Jackson - my favorite athlete. Michael Vick is pretty exciting. (NBA) Ginobli is exciting to watch. Steve Nash. There's so many basketball players. Those are probably my two favorites. (MLB?) Khalil Greene is exciting to watch in the infield. Hitting-wise - Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz. Pretty impressive hitters. I like watching them hit. (Tennis?) You can't go wrong with Sharapova can you? Kournikova. Those two. I don't mind watching them. As far as guys, I don't know. I don't watch that much tennis. It seems like all those guys are pretty talented - Federer, Roddick. (Boxing?) Mayweather. The first time I ever saw him fight, he was exciting. Dominating, pretty quick and powerful."

Closest Baseball Friends:  "I'm pretty close with everybody on the team. But on other teams, I'm pretty close with Jason Bay of the Pirates."

Funniest Players:  "Ben Broussard. Pronk. (Who's that?) Hafner. I'd say the one who makes me laugh the most on this team is Pronk."

Toughest Competitors:  "Everybody's out there battling. There's tons of guys out there that battle."

    Favorite Vacation Spot:  "Sydney, Australia."

People Qualities Most Admired:  "Honesty is a quality. Honesty and...honesty is the one coming to mind."
